MAY 22, 2009- A 21-year-old Victorville woman is dead and her passenger was critically injured when the driver of a BMW slammed into their 2002 Nissan Frontier at the intersection of Mojave Drive and East Trail. San Bernardino County Sheriff’s deputies believe the driver of the 1997 BMW was racing a dark-colored sedan while under the influence of alcohol. Carrying two passengers, sheriff’s deputies believe the unidentified driver of the BMW was speeding east on Mojave Drive at about 2:15 a.m. when it collided with the Nissan, which was attempting to turn west onto Mojave Drive. The driver of the Nissan, identified by the San Bernardino County Coroner’s office as Sindy Lisbeth Hernandez-Villacorta, died at the scene and her passenger was airlifted to Loma Linda Medical Center, where she’s listed in critical condition. The driver of the BMW and both passengers were also injured. As of late Friday morning, the driver of the BMW had not been arrested, but deputies are investing the collision as a possible drunken driving incident.
