MAY 31, 2009 - A 19-year-old woman was killed when she drove into oncoming lanes in an attempt to pass slower moving traffic and collided head on with a tractor, the California Highway Patrol reported. The unidentified woman was driving a Toyota Corolla south on Wheeler Ridge Road about 5:15 a.m. when she crossed the broken yellow lines and into the northbound lanes just south of Herring Road, authorities said. She then collided with the front of a Peterbilt tractor driver by Moises Aguilar, 51, of Santa Maria, who was treated at Kern Medical Center for minor injuries, the CHP said.
