JUNE 2, 2009 - A 30-year-old man died when he was dragged beneath a Metro bus for more than block, the Los Angeles Police Department said. The man was attempting to cross S. Pacific Avenue about 4:30 p.m. when he was struck by the bus, which was turning right onto northbound Pacific from westbound Rose Avenue. The man was dragged beneath the bus for about 700 feet before the driver was alerted by another motorist. Authorities believe the pedestrian was in the driver’s blind spot during the wide turn. The unidentified pedestrian was declared dead at the scene. The bus was not carrying any passengers at the time. Police said the bus driver was shaken after the accident and taken to a local hospital for treatment.
