JUNE 11, 2009 - A 17-month-old boy was injured when he was struck by a vehicle as his father pushed him in a stroller, authorities said. The driver of the car then drove away from the scene. The boy’s father, identified as Edgar Rencinos, was walking with his wife and son in the 21100 block of Saticoy Street near Variel Avenue at about 9:05 p.m. when they attempted to cross Saticoy against a green light, according to a spokesman for the Los Angeles Fire Department. According to Rencinos, an older model black Lincoln Towne car driven by an elderly man made a left turn onto Saticoy and hit both Rencinos and his son, hurling them about 25 feet. The boy’s mother was uninjured. The vehicle fled westbound on Saticoy, police said. The boy suffered multiple injuries and was airlifted to Children’s Hospital Los Angeles, where he was listed in stable condition. Police are still searching for the driver.
