JULY 2, 2009 - A five-car collision on the 91 (Artesia) Freeway injured six people, including one critically, authorities said. The accident happened about 4:50 a.m. in the eastbound lanes between Cherry Avenue and Paramount Boulevard, according to the California Highway Patrol. One vehicle caught fire and two motorists were trapped in their cars, according to the Long Beach Fire Department. Paramedics transferred the critically injured person to a local hospital, officials said. The others were treated at the scene. The CHP is investigating the cause of the collision.
