JULY 12, 2009 - A 16-year-old boy died when the compact car he was riding in slammed into a truck and split in half, authorities said. Arion Seay of Grand Terrace was a passenger in a 2007 Ford Focus that was traveling south on Oak Glen Road at a high rate of speed about 2:30 p.m., according to the San Bernardino County coroner’s office. The vehicle veered into oncoming traffic near Avenue E and collided head-on with a northbound Toyota 4Runner, authorities said. Despite wearing a seat belt, officials said Seay was ejected from the car and died about four hours later at Loma Linda University Medical Center. The driver of the Focus, identified as 27-year-old Dione Davis of Yucaipa, and a 17-year-old passenger were injured in the crash, but their conditions were unknown. The driver of the 4Runner, identified as 32-year-old Steve Parr, was uninjured. Authorities said they believe alcohol was a factor in the collision. San Bernardino County Sheriff’s officials are continuing their investigation.
