JULY 27, 2009 – A woman was severely injured and another driver was arrested following a five-vehicle accident, authorities said. The collision was reported at 7:24 p.m. on eastbound Highway 118, just west of Tapo Canyon Road, according to the California Highway Patrol. The suspected drunk driver was involved in two previous hit-and-run crashes before he caused the multi-vehicle accident, sending one car down an embankment and causing the woman to be hospitalized with major injuries, authorities said. The man was also hospitalized. Authorities plan to arrest him on suspicion of felony DUI and hit-and-run when he’s released from the hospital. The CHP is continuing its investigation of the collision.
