AUGUST 17, 2009 - Two drivers were injured, including one critically, when their vehicles collided head-on while traveling on Santiago Canyon Road, authorities said. The collision occurred about 7:40 p.m. south of Irvine Lake, according to the Orange County Fire Authority. Emergency personnel used the Jaws of Life to rescue at least one occupant. One of the drivers suffered critical trauma and the other moderate trauma, authorities said. Both were transported to Western Medical Center in Santa Ana. The road was closed until 9:30 p.m. so the California Highway Patrol could investigate the crash site. Two-lane Santiago Canyon Road has been the site of numerous traffic fatalities and injuries over the years. The CHP is continuing its investigation into the head-on collision.

My cousin was the one who was hit by this girl, he was in the mustang. He shattered and dislocated both legs, shattered his pelvis and hip, broke 9 ribs, has a calapsed lung, is in a comatose state with a machine breathing for him, 2 bad kidneys, and possibly a broken neck and/or back. He turned 23 last month and was just married July 10th. He will haveto have several extensive surgeries over the next several months and will have to learn how to walk all over again. Please keep him, his wife and his family in your prayers. To the other driver, we will keep you in our prayers as well, God Bless.

My son was in this accident, I wrote on this blog but apparently was not published. My son had a broken neck, bleeding in the head, both hips broken and his pelvic separated from his spine, both feet were shattered as his engine sat on his feet, lacerated liver & internal bleeding in his stomach.Due to the other driver coming into his lane at a high rate of speed. No one from her fam checked in on him to see how he was,we at least checked with the hospital & called her ins. to check on the other driver. My son thank GOD is still alive but will never be able to return to his normal life with his new wife & will never be able to return to work full time. He is just now able to walk with a walker after almost having his left foot amputated.
