AUGUST 17, 2009 – The Ontario Police Department is investigating an intersection collision that killed a 22-year-old woman, authorities said. Alyssa Nicole Randles of La Verne was driving a silver 2004 Volkswagen north on Euclid Avenue about 3:20 a.m. when a southbound full-sized pickup truck turned left in front of her vehicle at Schaefer Avenue, police said. The two vehicles collided, killing Randles at the scene, according to the San Bernardino County Coroner. Two passengers in her vehicle suffered non life-threatening injuries. The driver of the pickup fled the scene, but police officers found 23-year-old Jeffrey Gilbert Gonzales of Ontario hiding nearby and he was held on suspicion of vehicular manslaughter and driving under the influence of drugs or alcohol, police said.
