AUGUST 26, 2009 - A 59-year-old woman was killed after she pulled into the path of a pickup truck near Thousand Palms, authorities said. Lejie Jenny Sun of Rancho Mirage was driving a 2001 Pontiac sedan north on Desert Moon Drive about noon when she stopped at the intersection with Ramon Road, according to the Riverside County Coroner. She then proceeded across Ramon, which does not have a stop sign, and was struck by a 1999 Ford pickup driven by a 23-year-old Thousand Palms man, authorities said. Sun was pronounced dead at the scene at 12:12 p.m., officials said. The California Highway Patrol is investigating the fatal car accident.
