AUGUST 26, 2009 - The California Highway Patrol is investigating a crash on the 60 Freeway in Glen Avon that killed a 28-year-old woman, authorities said. Noemi Hernandez of Los Angeles was apparently driving the wrong way on the Pomona Freeway at about 3:30 a.m. when her Nissan sedan slammed head-on into an eastbound tow truck, the CHP said. The collision occurred just east of the Millikan Avenue exit and just west of the Interstate 15 interchange. Hernandez was transported to Riverside Community Hospital, where she was pronounced dead at 4:43 a.m., according to the Riverside County Coroner. The driver of the Ford F-450 diesel tow truck suffered minor injuries, authorities said. As part of the investigation, the CHP will try to determine how Hernandez’s vehicle ended up on the wrong side of the freeway.
